HISTORY OF MVU VETERINARY SERVICES

MVU Veterinary Services was established in 1975 by Dr. Charles Kaufman as a house-call practice. Pet care was originally delivered in a self-designed mobile Clinic but MVU soon learned that pets preferred being examined in their own environment. Working in the home is easier, faster and more comfortable for both pets and owners.

Shortly after Dr. Kenneth Jaffe joined the staff, MVU grew into a large practice which incorporated 5 Veterinarians, a central hospital facility in Brooklyn, house-calls and clinics in Queens and Staten Island.

Specializing in home delivery of veterinary care greatly influenced MVU’s methods of diagnosis and treatment. Doing house calls means getting the job done often under less than ideal circumstances. Thirty years of experience has helped MVU refine its innovative system of practical, on the spot veterinary care. This system is based on taking history, physical diagnosis and response to logical treatment options. Adding the tools of laboratory testing and X-rays assures accurate diagnosis and successful medical and surgical therapy.

Dr. Kaufman and Jaffe are the sole Veterinarians directing the full service Veterinary facility on Avenue U. Helped by a dedicated staff, MVU continues to serve Brooklyn with experienced, affordable Veterinary Care.
